Exciting news: my business is expanding to Denver! I will still continue to work as an event photographer in Seattle, and I’ll do some Seattle editorial photography too. But as of late fall, home base will be Colorado. Wondering where I’ll be at a specific time? Give me a call at 206-905-4555 or send me [...]

Last weekend I traveled, as always, to photograph the Carleton College Reunion in Minnesota. Heavy rains caused the campus to flood on the first evening, resulting in some high water levels around campus. The water got pretty high before receding just in time for Reunion. Here are a few photos of the flooding. Share

News! I am one of the photographers selected for the prestigious Review Santa Fe portfolio review this coming June. It’s an honor and I’m really looking forward to the chance to work with some great editors. Share

Some Seattle wedding photographer news – I’m pleased to be a Knot Best of Weddings 2012 photographer! I have also joined Fearless Photographers, an awesome group of wedding photojournalists that I highly recommend checking out. Here’s a photo from a recent Seattle wedding last fall, photographed for Lightphoria. Share

Despite clashes between Occupy movements and police in Oakland and Portland intensifying over the past few days, the Occupy Seattle movement continues to be on relatively good terms with the city and with law enforcement. We had one nasty confrontation, but the city council is voting, today, on a resolution that would support Occupy Seattle [...]

My prison boot camp photographs are featured on the BURN magazine website. In 2008 I photographed a prison boot camp in Colorado. My thoughts on the experience with photographs are up now – head over to check them out. Share

I photographed the Seattle Y’s annual meeting and celebration at 415 Westlake in South Lake Union earlier this month. The space is really cool – coffee shop by day and event venue by night – and I enjoyed working with such a great organization! In case you were wondering, they used to be the Seattle [...]

Some photography links from around the web this month… Siang Loo, a fantastic wedding photographer in Seattle and a colleague of mine. If I’m booked I highly recommend him! Lost in Seattle, an interesting visualization of all the businesses that are open and closed in the city at a given time. They also claim to [...]

I’m back in the United States. I am available for assignments in Seattle (and my phone should work again) as of March 17, 2011. The photo is one of my favorites from Carnaval in Oruro, amidst the performers and foam-spraying maniac children. Share

One of my favorite weddings last season was with Holly and Ben, a wonderful couple who put on a fantastic DIY outdoor wedding in western Washington. A flower photo of mine from their wedding is featured on the Offbeat Bride blog. (Click through to the post to see the link). Thanks guys! Share

One of my goals for 2011 is to share, every month, some of the things in the world of photography and video that I have been following. I hope to pass along a list of admirations, inspiration, and friends´ projects in these posts. Here are a few things I have enjoyed in the last few [...]

I decided to launch Theo Stroomer Weddings and concentrate on wedding photojournalism full time in Seattle and the San Juan Islands. It has gone [...]

I’m pleased to announce the launch of my new wedding photojournalism site, www.theostroomerweddings.com . I partnered with Neon Sky to create the site and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the service they’ve given me and the look of the site. It’s been a while in the making, and I am so excited to share [...]

I’m pleased to announce that two of my images from the Seattle street photography series “Emerald Soup” have been selected to be featured in an exhibition at the Vermont Photo Space. The show opens Dec. 13. I’m in Bolivia and thus I will not be able to see it in person, but I’d love to [...]

My photos from the now-closed Colorado Corrections Alternative Programs prison boot camp are featured on Pete Brook’s Prison Photography blog. I appreciate the photo feature, and Pete has collected updated numbers from the DoC and some additional articles on the closure. As he points out, the data calls into question just how effective the program [...]

It took a while. Uploads take longer from Bolivia and wireless is a bit less reliable, but here goes. And hey, here’s a photo to start things off. New York! Share
